We’ve been having an exciting old time in the Rat camp.
We’ve been recording bits and bobs for our record, giving the ever-working Brad Hemsell even more to do. This included hiring out a Village Hall, and bringing along one of the TTWD family to bust out some symphonic guitar noises to feature on one of the tracks. We love to share.
We played shows in Dorset and London with our Belgian buddies Black Swarm. These resulted in chaos and hangovers but we completely loved playing these shows, everyone was RAD. Thanks to Art of Burning Water for fitting us into their tour schedule.
We now have shows coming up in Southampton, Bournemouth and London.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support, turning up, buying us shots, and keeping us entertained
We played our first cat-themed gig of 2015, with some nice London cat-themed bands, Cat Videos and Cat Bear Tree. We raised money for a cat charity. And our friend won some Kit-Kats in the raffle. We don’t even like cats. But we do like having an on-stage drinks table.
We’ve got two gigs coming up that we are PUMPED for in April, one on the south-coast with our label mates Cheel Ghar, and one in london. These line-ups are HOT.
Here’s a miniature clip of us playing Brn Tsrs in Kingston last month. It’s a tune from our album which is currently in the capable hands of Bradley Hemsell, crafting it into something beautiful.
We like playing this tune live, it’s fun.
We had a good start to 2K15 by doing what we love to do, writing more songs and playing a gig with our friends. The Fighting Cocks showing that the rock pub lives on, and that soundguys are sound guys.
We’re currently editing a bit of video from the show #snazzy
Some others in the TTWD family showed up & supported us/shouted at us, which is #lovely
In other news, the technical wizard of legend Brad Hemsell is working on our record, making us sound all ridiculous. We’re still completely excited by this record, and it was rad to debut a couple of tunes at the gig this weekend.
Your friends forever
Nearly a year after our debut trip to Basement Studio in Wimborne, we returned, this time joined by Ian Ratskilkin, our fantastic fourth corner. Bradley Hemsell at the controls again, wizardry abounding. This man has a lot of cables. And beautiful microphones.
Three long days hiding in the darkest depths of Dorset resulted in an albums worth of tracking, the results of which we are VERY excited about. No doubt we’ll let you know when it’s ready.
Love Rat the motherfuckin Magnificent x
Eurotunnel : driving a car onto a train, inside a tunnel. Meta.
In Antwerp we almost saw Santa and we rode on a wooden escalator.
And we played a show in a real life fort, with some very wonderful Belgians who fed us free beer all night.
Good One Belgium!
We are 100% pumped right now : our very first EP Low Impulse Control has finally been allowed out to meet everyone. It’s taken a while to get here, but that’s because we’ve loved every second of it. Well, maybe Brad hasn’t enjoyed every second of engineering the thing, but I’m pretty sure most of it was fun.
Low Impulse Control is three of the first tracks we wrote together, crafted with a bit of magic from Brad. You can listen to it & download it from our bandcamp, and you can download it from itunes store.
The best thing of all is, after we get back from playing a fun gig in Belgium, we’re going back into the studio to get started with the next record – this time with our fourth mousekateer Ian.
